Younger African Sports Club , also known as Yanga , is a Tanzania-based football club based in Twiga Street, Jangwani, Dar es Salaam. The club's home game is played at the National Stadium. It is one of the two biggest football clubs in Tanzania football
After its founding in 1935, its members competed for the performance and poor results of their team. The club had a worse and unsatisfactory performance in 1936 which caused some members to split up and form another team. Proponents of secession are Arabs who are considered suitable to cause conflicts among club members that cause division. They succeeded and together with dissidents, formed a club known as Queens F.C. The name was later changed to Sunderland and then to Simba S.C. which is the name of the current club.
Both teams, Young Africans S.C. (Yanga) and Simba S.C. has been a rival ever since. The team formed one of the most entertaining, eye-catching, and talked-about derby in Africa. The young Africans have won more derby games than Simba.
Team colors are yellow, green and black. Yanga has won more Tanzanian Premiership titles (27 titles) than any other Tanzanian football club.
Young Africans S.C. is Tanzania's most successful football club in terms of trophies, with 27 major league titles in 2017. The club also earned several other international trophies as CECAFA trophies.
In February 1974, young Africans played a friendly match at EspÃÆ'rito Santo, Brazilian state football, Alencar Araripe Engineers stadium against the Sports Railway 3-0 defeat.
Shabani Nonda is the most important player to play for the club. He had a job with Yanga in the mid 1990s before heading to Vaal Professionals based in South Africa. Other prominent players who have played for Yanga are Elias Michael (goalkeeper), Maulid Dilunga, Sunday Manara "Computer" and Kassim Manara.
