Histori
The main emphasis of the early period is the evangelization of the nation. In the late 1950s, the movement began in southern Tamil Nadu P. Samuel pioneered the VBS (Vacation Bible School) movement in India in 1952. Several other youths, including Sam Kamalesan, Theodore Williams, helped him.
In 1937, the Mission of the Gospel of the World started the South Indian Bible Institute (now SIBS Ministries), which in turn created the Moving Bible School movement in India. In 1952, in a small village called Kovilpatti in southern Tamil Nadu, a VBS session was held with 75 children and 8 teachers.
Then, on 26-30 December 1959 at 211, Dhanaskodi Street, Kovilpatti district of Tirunelveli Tamil Nadu, nearly 25 Friends Vacation Bible School (committed youth) gathered. They have started the Praying Movement, which was later named Friends Missionary Prayer Band. At that time it was stated that it was just a praying group, not an organization, a Church or a community. The group began to start small prayer cells in every Tamil Nadu town. Bishop Jebaraj of Tirunelveli diocese is the first patron of the FMPB. Later, Bishop Leslie Newbigin of Madras diocese became the Protector of this movement. Looking at FMPB's work, he said "this native movement is nothing but the work of the Holy Spirit". Following his advice, the constitution of the FMPB is incorporated into its constitution, three universal church credo added to the Organization's faith statement. As a result, the FMPB works as a Church arm.

Praying movement becomes a delivery movement
During the summer holidays, in 1965 and 1966, FMPB friends conducted outreach among remote corners of their state of Tamil Nadu. One of these teams went to Pettamugulalam at Panchamalai (Periyamalai) a hill near Hosur, about 100 km from Bangalore. This is where they place a missionary permanently. This challenge was brought to the notice of friends who had gathered in Koilpatti on 30 April 1967 for the Mission Challenge Meeting (ie 'Araikooval') organized by FMPB. Harris Hilton became the first missionary with the full support of his wife, Padma Hilton. They are dedicated and sponsored by the BHEL Thiruvarambur prayer group, Trichirapalli, Tamil Nadu.
The first mission station began on June 9, 1967 in Periamalai. Mr. Harris Hilton, Dr. Pushparaj and Tuan Emil Jebasingh, then the Secretary General landed in Periamalai and placed a cottage for them and called it Moriah. They bought a piece of land from Chendurayane Chetty and called the place Jehovah Jireh. Mr. Esau and John Jacob join Mr. Hilton in the same year. The first office of FMPB begins at the house of Mrs. Swamy Adiyal in Jalan Pers, Sayerpuram and registered as Society, registration number is S. 54/1968. Their first people are Raman and Allimuthu from Periamalai. They were baptized in 1979 at Bethel, Danishpet. The leaders of the Trichirapalli prayer group, Mr. Hemachandran and Mr Jacob organized the first group to sponsor missionary prayer and support the Harris Hilton family family financially. The first convert to the mission was Raman, who was a runner in the postal department. Mr. Simon Roberts became a full-time promotional secretary. Annual earnings reach up to Rs. 10.000/-.
When the vision grew and the burden of reaching the whole of India appeared in 1971, the first mission field was opened in North India. Mr. Hilkiah and Mrs. Daisy Hilkiah was sent to Bhasti in Uttar Pradesh on July 23, 1971.

The evangelization of the nation is the main target. Mobilization Operations trains missionaries in Literary evangelism. So, the sermon in the open air and the sharing of Christian literature in the form of a tractate begins. Also parts of the Bible, the New Testament and the Bible are distributed. Every missionary is targeted in proclaiming the Gospel. In the book Re-thinking of Missions, William Earnest Hocking has written that, "Of the many changes in the world during the last century, a century of great changes in Eastern life as well as in Western life, some are specifically related to corporate mission, change, the emergence of a fundamental world culture, the rise of nationalism in the East ".
