History and Establishment
2008
Caloocan City Mayor Enrico Echiverri on Sunday announced the opening of a business school and a technical-oriented junior high school in the city in June.
According to Echiverri, a government-run high school business is in what was originally the Urduja High School at Barangay 172, in the first district of the city.
He says that what distinguishes Urduja Business High School from other high schools is that "in addition to following the Basic Education Curriculum... Urduja Business High School will also educate students with business and management subjects."
Echiverri said, the trade school internships are expected to learn the skills and abilities essential to be self-sufficient and have strong business sense.
Urduja Primary Principal, Carmelita Kilala says other special high schools, such as high school science, can emphasize additional science and mathematics subjects into their curriculum. "With the city's high school business, students are not only learning math, but also business math, business English, not basic English, and so on," Kilala said. "The students will also be introduced to accounting systems, finance, information technology, marketing, organizational behavior, human resource management, and basic and simple problem-solving analysis," he added.
Echiverri said about 200 applicants could pass a rigid entrance exam facilitated by faculty members from Caloocan City Science School about a month ago.
Echiverri hopes his "favorite project" in partnership with the Municipal School Division will result in more employers and employers than employees produced by Caloocan in the near future.
