Plot

In a short time, 52-year-old Walter White arrived at his abandoned and enclosed home, following the "Live Free or Die" event. Walt entered and saw "HEISENBERG" spray painted on the living room wall. Observing the dilapidated state of the house, which included a group of teenagers using his empty pool to skateboard, he took a hidden bottle of risin from his bedroom. As he leaves, he greets his former neighbor, Carol, who is shocked by his presence.

At this time, Hank Schrader turned from discovering Gale Boetticher's handwritten dedication found in Walt's copy of Leaves of Grass, finally realizing that Walt, his brother-in-law, was Heisenberg all along. After forgiving herself and his wife, Marie, from a party at Walt's house, Hank turned his car off the road on the way home while suffering a panic attack. Hank pretended to be sick to work from home and took the opportunity to review case files on Heisenberg and Gus Fring. Hank connects people, events, and circumstances, and matches handwritten in the Grass Leaves deduction with points from Gale's notebook notebook, to ensure that Walt is Heisenberg.

Walt, who has left the methamphetamine business, and discussed ways to launder his drug money faster with his wife Skyler, with the expansion of their car wash business as a destination. Lydia shows up at a sad car-washing place and begs him to come back, because the quality of methamphetamine since her retirement has fallen below acceptable standards, jeopardizing their deal. However, Walt fired him and Skyler warned him to never return. He later revealed that Walt's cancer had returned, but he kept this from his family and underwent chemotherapy again.

Meanwhile, Jesse Pinkman feels guilty for his role in the Walt meth business, and is very confused over the death of Drew Sharp and (he considers) Mike Ehrmantraut. He gave all the money he received from Walt to Saul Goodman and asked him to send it to Mike's grandson and the Drew family. Saul refused, advising it would arouse suspicion, and reported this to Walt. Walt visits Jesse to return his money and lies to him, telling him that Mike is probably still alive somewhere and does not need help taking care of his grandson. Jesse is still depressed and then gives a $ 10,000 bundle to a homeless person. He then drives through the neighborhood throwing more bundles of money into the front page.

In the bathroom, Walt found his missing Missing Grass copies. Worried at the time of chance due to Hank's illness, his suspicions deepened when he found a GPS tracker in his car. He shows up in Hank's garage to ask about the tracker. An angry Hank hit Walt and accused him of being Heisenberg, which Walt did not confirm or reject. Walt tells Hank that he will find it difficult to prove that he is Heisenberg, and even if he does his cancer it will probably kill him before he can go to jail. Hank demanded that Walt leave his children in Hank's care before he considered Walt's argument, but was rejected. Hank said that he did not know him anymore, which Walt answered,

"If that's true, if you do not know who I am, then maybe the best thing is to step lightly."

Dedication

This episode is dedicated to Kevin Cordasco, a sixteen-year-old from Breaking Bad who has met several cast members and serial crew; Cordasco died early in 2013 from neuroblastoma. This is the fourth dedication in the history of this series.

Reference title

The term "blood money" is double meaning : it means money earned on the living expenses of others and money paid to the families of someone who has been killed, usually by the killer or the murderer clan.

Reference to other media

In the opening flashforward scene, Walt was seen by his former neighbor Carol, who dropped a bag of oranges (which spilled and rolled on the ground) in fear. Some critics interpret this as a reference to The Godfather , in which oranges represent death. For example, in one scene of The Godfather, after Vito Corleone (Marlon Brando) was shot, he dropped a bag of oranges, which then rolled on the ground.

References to previous episode

"Blood Money" contains some other continuity references for past episodes. Hank montage, where he investigates the revelation that Walt is Heisenberg, sees him searching for old files and images. These references are Gus Fring, Gale Boetticher and his notebook ("Bullet Points"), Dennis Markowski, Jesse's car at Seasons 1 and 2, bullet-ridden cars from his shot with Tuco Salamanca ("Grilled"), Hector Salamanca, Mike Ehrmantraut, Duane Chow ("Full Measure"/"Madrigal"), Ron Forenall, Tyrus Kitt, Gonzo and No-Doze ("Grilled"), the gas mask Walt took from the school where he worked, stole Walt and Jesse. one barrel methylamine ("A No-Rough-Stuff-Type Deal"), a burning lab ("Live Free or Die"), and finally, a Heisenberg image ("No MÃÆ'¡s"). When Hank confronts Walt about his identity, he mentions that Walt accidentally crashed the car on his way to Fring's laundry ("Space"), killing the imprisoned drug royalty ("Above All"), calling him about Marie to distract him. he's from Jesse and RV ("Sunset"), and bombs a nursing home ("Face Off").

Walt also acts like Gus in some scenes. His conversations with Lydia on car washings referring to previous Walt and Gus conversations in Los Pollos Hermanos, with Walt's reversed role. In another scene, Walt goes to the bathroom to throw up, turns the sink to cover the noise and puts the towel on the floor to kneel, as Gus did in "Salud". The remote control car belonging to Hank's neighbor ("Seven Thirty-Seven") also appeared. Hank's GPS tracker under Walt's car was the same car he'd planted in Gus's car in the fourth season. When Jesse unfolds a pack of cigarettes in front of Huell, Huell seems to recall the rickety-filled cigarette he stole from Jesse in the "End Times".
