A curse (also called inaccuracy , malediction , execution , malison , curse , or commination ) is any wish that states that some form of misfortune or misfortune will override or be attached to another entity: one or more persons, places, or objects. In particular, the "curse" may refer to a desire or statement made effective by supernatural or spiritual powers, such as gods or gods, spirits, or natural forces, or others as a kind of magic or magic spell; in the latter sense, the curse can also be called hex or jinx . In many belief systems, the curse itself (or accompanying ritual) is considered to have a causal force in the outcome. To reverse or eliminate the curse is sometimes called "deletion" or "breaking", and is often believed to require complicated rituals or prayers.

The study of curse forms consists of a significant proportion of the study of folk religion and folklore. A deliberate attempt to pick up a curse is often part of the practice of magic. In Hindu culture, Sage or Rishi is believed to have the power to bless and cursed. Examples include the curse placed by Rishi Bhrigu on the king of Nahusha and which was placed by Rishi Devala. Specific names for certain types of curses can be found in different cultures:

  • African American hoodoo presents us with a curse and traverses the conditions, as well as the foot form of magic used by Ramandeep, where the damned thing is placed in the victim's path and activated when walking.
  • Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cultures are a source of trust in the evil eye, which may be the result of envy but, more rarely, are said to be the result of a deliberate curse. To be protected from evil eyes, the protection items are made of dark blue round glass, with a white circle around the black dot in the center, reminiscent of the human eye. The size of the protective eye may vary.
  • The Germans, including Pennsylvania Dutch, speak in terms of hexing (from German for magic), and the common hex of the past is that laid by the stable witch that causes the milk cows to dry and the horses go paralyzed.

Tecumseh curse

The curse of Tecumseh is considered to cause death in the office of the President of the United States elected years spent up divided by 20, beginning in 1840. This alleged curse seems to have fallen asleep, since Ronald Reagan, (elected in 1980) survived the assassination attempt and George W. Bush (elected in 2000) survived his presidency for eight years.

As a plot device

The curse has also been used as a plot device in literature and theater. When used as a plot device they involve one character placing a curse or hex over another character. It is distinguished from incantations and bad premonitions and other plot devices. An example of a curse as a plot device is as follows:

  • Rigoletto - Calculate Monterone puts a curse on Rigoletto. Rigoletto blames the death of his daughter's climax on the curse.
  • Romeo and Juliet - The dying Mercutio condemns Montagues and Capulets with "A Plague" from both of your houses. " (Often quoted as "smallpox in both of your homes.")
  • "Sleeping Beauty" - Maleficent puts a curse on Princess Aurora to die on her 16th birthday.
  • "Beauty and the Beast" - Enchantress transforms the prince into an animal.

Sports

A number of curses are used to explain the failure or misfortune of a particular sports team, player, or even city. As an example:

  • No first winner of the Snooker World Championship has managed to defend his title since the event was first held at Crucible Theater in Sheffield in 1977. It has been widely associated with "Crucible Curse" .
  • The Curse of the Billy Goat is used to describe the failure of the Chicago Cubs baseball team, which did not win the World Series championship between 1908 and 2016, and the National League banner between 1945 and 2016.
  • There's a famous curse called The Bambino Curse on the Boston Red Sox Major League Baseball team. After the Red Sox sold Babe Ruth, who had won 3 of the 5 Red Sox World Series titles at the time, to the New York Yankees where he won his last four titles, it took the 86-year-old Red Sox to win another World Series (1918-2004). In 2004 the Red Sox made history in the American League Championship Series (ALCS) returning from 0 games to 3, winning 4 games in a row against their greed, the New York Yankees blowing game 7 in Bronx 10 to 3, this is called as wrong one of the biggest comebacks in sports history. Red Sox secures AL Pennant and then proceeds to sweep St. Louis Cardinals in World Series 2004, 4 games to 0 end the curse once and for all. Three years later they will win again in the 2007 World Series against the Colorado Rockies.
  • The "Krukow Kurse" is used to explain the failure of the San Francisco Giants to ever win the World Series until 2010. This is attributed to Mike Krukow (former pitcher for the Giants and current broadcasters for the team) based on predictions - his annual season that the Giants "have a chance" to win the World Series. After Krukow stopped making such predictions - say legend - the Giants will, in fact, win the World Series. However, the Giants went on to win the World Series in 2010. It was in the same year as Krukow's partner, the Giants announcer, Duane Kuiper stating "Giants is not, it is torture!", Because of the many games they play close to. This sentence was adopted by fans and became a loud call throughout the second half of the season and the playoffs.
  • Marketing specialists have highlighted "Gillette's curse" , in light of the accident that happened to sports stars associated with the brand.

Object

The accursed objects are generally alleged to have been stolen from their rightful owners or looted from shelters. Diamond Hope should bear such a curse, and bring havoc to its owner. The stories behind why these objects are condemned vary, but they are usually said to bring bad luck or realize unusual phenomena related to their presence. Busby's lazy chair is reportedly condemned by killer Thomas Busby just before his execution so everyone who will sit in it will die.

Egyptian and mummy

There is a widespread popular belief in the curse attributed to the buried tomb of a mummified corpse, or of the mummy itself. This idea became so widespread that it became a mainstay of pop culture, especially in horror films (although initially the curse was invisible, a series of mysterious deaths, rather than mummies walking dead later). The "curse of Pharaoh" is thought to have haunted the archaeologists who dug the tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhamun, where an alleged utterance was uttered from the tomb by an ancient Egyptian imam, to anyone who violated his territory. Similar dubious suspicion has surrounded the excavation and examination of the Alpine mummy (natural, not embalmed), "ÃÆ'-tzi the Iceman". While the curses are generally considered to have been popularized and seduced by British journalists in the 19th century, the ancient Egyptians were in fact known for placing curse inscriptions on markers protecting grave goods or property or graves.

Bible

According to the Catholic Encyclopedia article Cursed , the Bible describes God condemning the snake, the earth, and the Cain (Genesis 3:14, 3:17, 4:11). Likewise Noah cursed Canaan (Genesis 9:25), and Joshua condemned the one who should build the city of Jericho (Joshua 6: 26-27). In the various books of the Hebrew Bible there is a long list of curses on people who break the Law (Leviticus 26: 14-25, Deuteronomy 27:15, etc.).

In the New Testament, Christ cursed the barren fig tree (Mark 11:14), uttering his evil assault against the dubious cities (Matthew 11:21), against the rich, the worldly, the scribes and the Pharisees, and foretells the terrible malediction that will come upon the damned (Matthew 25:41). The word curse also applies to the atoning sacrifice (Galatians 3:13), for temporary and eternal sin (Genesis 2:17; Matthew 25:41). "
