Careers

At the age of 19, Capitol Records signed it to a two-year development agreement as a solo artist. An official album was not released, but the demo-recording process began his career as a songwriter. He played piano and guitar on Elliott Smith's band tour for the album Picture 8 , playing live with Smith, Sam Coomes and Scott McPherson. Embry states that "watching the creative process [Smith] is to me the equivalent of taking a graduate course in songwriting." Embry played the piano with the band on April 21, 2000 Late Night with Conan O'Brien .

Embry later became the leader of the indie-rock group Amnion, helping to write group songs. In February 2008, Amnion released their full-length debut album AmenNamO .

Embry remains a frequent musician, working for musicians like Willie Nelson. She played the piano on her debut album Up i Below, and was then a piano tour performer with Edward Sharpe and Magnetic Zero from 2009-12. In August 2012 he ordered a series of opening dates for Mumford and Sons to support his debut solo album, Tiny Prayers .

In 2014, Embry Raven's Song is featured in Wish I Was Here film directed by Zach Braff.

Producing

He has engineered, recorded, and produced albums by musicians and other groups. In 2009, Embry produced and recorded the band's debut album Long Beach-based Avi Buffalo for Sub Pop Records at her Hunter's Hollow home studio in Glassell Park, California. He worked with producer Daniel Lanois on his album Shine, and also spent time with Los Angeles production from Hedwig and Angry Inch. Small Prayer (2012)

Embry started writing solo albums while on the road with his friend, Alexander Ebert from Edward Sharpe and Magnetic Zero. Tiny Prayers was released on September 18, 2012 in the Community and Vagrant. The album includes ten songs written, performed, and produced together by Embry, with Woody Jackson also producing.

This album was received positively. According to the review at Aquarium Drunkard, "The Bright Skymoon", the opening song of the album, "very rare, but there is a bit of ancient magic like some brushed drums, mandolins, and Embry jingling ivory filling the skeletal frame of the song Embry has only a small voice, but it's very big, he can be windy and vague on the key but only in the way a great jazz pianist can. "Performer Magazine states that with Tiny Prayers "Embry relies on a large number of instruments to convey his thoughts and emotions.Although the quiet and minimalist approach to the album, he displays... an experienced understanding of how to integrate them all into something captivating."
