In Christian theology, the healing gift is among the spiritual gifts listed in 1 Corinthians 12. As an incredible charisma, the gift of healing is a supernatural impulse given to believers to serve various healing and rehabilitation for individuals through the power of the Holy Spirit. In Greek from the New Testament, the words gifts and healing are plural.
In Mark's Gospel account of the Great Commission, Jesus states that one of the signs to follow believers in him will heal after the laying on of hands. In the fifth chapter of the Letter of James, the anointing with oil is involved with the laying on of hands and the prayers of the sick. It symbolizes that believers are channels of divine power and that healing is the work of the Holy Spirit. Healing also relates to the forgiveness of sins.
Christians of Pentecostal and charismatic believe "that God has made provision that physical healing will be the ministry of His church and that the gift of healing will work together with faith". However, they also believe that there is no minister of healing that will cure all who come to them. The faith of the prayer person is very important for healing, but many times the faith in the part of a prayed person is also important. All Pentecostal and charismatic are encouraged to pray for the healing of the sick even if they do not claim to have supernatural gifts.
