In the United States, architectural coatings or architectural paints are paints and other coatings used to coat buildings and homes. Actually, varnish and lacquer are definitely not paint. Such products are usually intended for special purposes such as roof coating, wall paint, or a finished deck. Coatings are usually applied with brushes, rollers or sprayers. The intended coating is intended for on-site applications and does not include "coatings applied by manufacturers for building products such as vinyl or aluminum wall frames that can ultimately be used for architectural end use".
